Why choose Gonstead?
The Gonstead adjustment is a specific correction, usually to the spine, delivered by hand directly on the patient’s skin.
This specificity and skin contact allows your chiropractor to control the adjustment and make it just right for you. It can be customised to any person, from infant to grandparent or for a specific situation, like when someone is in a lot more pain than usual.
It is a quick, gentle movement that is applied to a specific segment of the spine that has been determined during thorough assessment at each visit.
We consider the whole body and spine, whilst only adjusting the key areas that need correction.
Did you know Gonstead adjustments are not limited to the spine? We also assess and adjust other joints; like shoulders, wrists, knees and ankles.
The History of Gonstead Chiropractic
While there are many chiropractic techniques and systems of analysis, we choose to use the Gonstead System of Chiropractic exclusively due to its specificity and strong emphasis on biomechanics.
Gonstead Chiropractic was established in 1923 and named after one of the greatest pioneers in chiropractic history, Clarence. S. Gonstead.
Dr Gonstead was a mechanical engineer before becoming a chiropractor, this gave him a unique way of interpreting how the body moved and functioned and what was needed to get his patients feeling better. Using his background and extensive research on human cadaver spines, he developed a very unique biomechanical system of analysing and correcting spinal misalignments. Dr Gonstead refined his system over 55 years of practice where he delivered over 4 million adjustments.
The Gonstead System of Chiropractic is taught in many chiropractic schools around the world. Our chiropractors regularly attend Gonstead seminars and workshops to refine and improve their skills, learning from chiropractors who worked personally with Dr Gonstead.
